Canada's Customs & Revenue Agency (CCRA) transports Ethernet traffic
between two of its Ottawa based locations by using Plaintree's
Wavebridge optical wireless links. They rely on the virtually-unhackable
links to ensure reliable secure transmission between the two buildings.
Their application includes two 10Mbps links between both locations for
maximum throughput. Recently they upgraded their Token Ring optical link
that they had been using reliably for 7 years to a newer 10Mbps Ethernet
link (WB510).
They are also using a combination of a WB310 indoor unit behind a window
in one of their top floors, connected through the window to a WB510
outdoor unit on the remote location's roof top. The Wavebridge 300, 400
and 500 series are compatible with each other allowing for maximum
deployment flexibility.
